Rainmaking Expand – A new generation of market entry accelerator programs

Rainmaking launches a new generation of market entry accelerator programs to help startups enter new markets. Rainmaking Expand programs have a modular structure enabling startups to access customised support, regardless of their maturity or industrial sector.
Singapore has a robust startup ecosystem—ranking 17th in the world according to Startup Genome’s latest report—and continues to expand as the opportunities in ASEAN countries evolve as global needs shift in different sectors. Entrepreneurs in the region have created, adapted and proven their business models in the region, but due to the territory’s geographic and demographic constraints, this means that many startup companies must quickly look to enter new markets in order to achieve scale.
Over the years, we (Rainmaking) have observed that market entry can be challenging for startups as there are often significant regulatory and cultural hurdles to overcome before reaching new potential customers. Crucially, the key to successful internationalisation is first understanding whether or not there is significant demand for a particular product or service in a new target market.
Rainmaking Expand is a new generation of market entry programs that is designed to address the challenges that startups face. After many years of designing, tweaking and evolving our own accelerator programs around the world, we have established a framework that initially helps startups assess their viability in new markets and then helps them to more successfully expand via targeted matchmaking. Our latest program, Rainmaking Expand: South Korea, supported by Enterprise Singapore (ESG), focuses on providing end-to-end support to Singaporean startups seeking to enter the South Korean market.
In order to provide the most benefit to participating
startups, we create customised, modular program plans for each startup – helping them analyse what they need for successful market entry, and supporting them every step of the way. This includes market validation, customer discovery, business development and facilitating relevant introductions in South Korea.
